Surge protection devices not only create more connection possibilities but also protect your connected devices from a power surge by preventing your beloved devices from sizzling.

They are pretty much a must-have for homes and offices – think of them as a better replacement for your basic power strip and bring the extra protective forces. They are available nowadays in all sizes, shapes, and capacities for connectors, including USB connectors.

Surge protectors are also incredibly convenient in travel situations. After all, it is quite difficult to find an available outlet at the airport, let alone two or three for your laptop, phone, and Kindle. What is the difference between power strips and surge protectors?

Power strips and surge protectors are different, although they often look exactly the same. Power strips simply provide more outlets, while surge protection protects your electronics from power surges or power line problems.

How many joules do I need to monitor in my surge protector?

Joule is a unit that allows you to estimate the amount of absorbed energy (also called Protection) provided by your surge protection. The more, the better when it comes to these guys. Many surge protection devices operate at 1800 joules, but others go to more than 3000 joules. If you use it for a computer configuration, experts recommend at least 2000 joules. If it’s things like lamps and radios, less than 1000 is probably fine.

What other technical characteristics should I look for?

They are available in a variety of price ranges, with prices ranging.
