Sony Proclaim Playstation Loyalty Program for Users

Sony has announced its first PlayStation loyalty program. Playstation Stars can register for free and you can earn points by playing games and making purchases on the PlayStation Store. You can redeem these points for items such as PSN wallet balances and certain store products.

There will be a “monthly registration” program that will allow you to earn a reward for playing any game. Sony plans to offer rewards to those who win tournaments and win certain trophies. The first player to win a platinum trophy for a specific game in their time zone will also receive a reward.

One aspect of the program ruffled a few feathers on social media after the announcement. Sony says it will offer digital collectibles as a reward. They are “digital representations of things PlayStation Fans enjoy, including beloved and iconic game characters and other forms of enjoyment, as well as valuable devices that fuel Sony’s innovation story.”It is said that Fans will always have collectibles to win and that there will be “ultra rare” ones.

When you call them “digital collectibles,” they certainly look like NFTs, but they’re not.

“It’s definitely not NFTs. Definitely not,” Grace Chen, vice president of network advertising, loyalty and licensing products at Sony Interactive enjoyment, told the Washington Post. “You can’t trade them or sell them. It does not use Blockchain technologies and certainly not NFTs.”If only Sony had clarified this in their own blog post to avoid confusion.

PlayStation Stars follows similar rewards offers from Microsoft and Nintendo. The Microsoft program, now called Microsoft Points, has been around for many years. In addition to earning points by playing Xbox, users can also earn them by searching and buying products on Bing.

Similarly, people can earn My Nintendo Gold points by shopping on the eShop and getting good results in tournaments. They can be used for discounts on Switch games. For completing various tasks, you can also earn platinum points that can be exchanged for rewards.

Sony says it will build PlayStation Stars over time. He is currently testing the program and plans a gradual rollout during this year. More details will be announced in the coming months.
